Weed is hosting its 2nd Lao New Year Celebration
Join us for our 2nd Annual Lao New Year Celebration 2026!
Come together with family, friends, and community as we honor tradition, culture, and the joy of a new year - Lao style. Live music, dancing, food, and drinks.
This is an all-day celebration beginning at 9:00 AM:
- 9:00 AM - Monks' Morning Chanting Ceremony & Alms Giving
- 12:00 PM - Free lunch for all ceremony participants
- 2:00–3:00 PM - Miss Lao New Year (Nang Songkhan) Parade
- 3:00–5:00 PM - Traditional Dance Performances
- 5:00 PM–Midnight - Lao New Year Party with live music, dancing, food & drinks

The Mission.
That's right - a Buddhist temple is coming to Weed California.
For years, Buddhist families have been part of the Weed community: building lives, raising children, and preserving their culture and faith. In 2025, the community celebrated a major milestone by hosting its first-ever Lao New Year - a joyful gathering that brought people together in tradition, prayer, food, and celebration.
Now, the next chapter begins.
Plans are underway to build a permanent Buddhist temple in Weed - a sacred space for worship, cultural events, and community connection. The temple will serve current families and future generations, ensuring that Buddhist traditions continue to thrive locally.
To make this vision a reality, community support
and donations are needed. Every contribution helps lay the foundation for a lasting spiritual and cultural home in Weed.
